Les Grands Jours de Bourgogne support the application in the classification of the Climates of the vineyards of Burgundy on the UNESCO world heritage list

Climats1247 climats of the vineyards of Burgundy-2000 years of history – international recognition.

Climats ? You said Climat ? ! ..
In Burgundy, when we speak about Climats, “we do not raise our eyes to the sky, we look at the ground” Bernard Pivot, President of the Support Committee of the Association managing the candidature dossier.

Do you know ?
Climats exist only in Burgundy!
Climats are parcels of vines, carefully delimited, known by the same name for hundreds of years, such as Chambertin, Romanée-Conti, Clos de Vougeot, Montrachet, Corton, Musigny... and that, viewed from above, create this amazing mosaic of 60 km on the narrow band of slopes that run from Dijon to Santenay, south of Beaune.
But the climats cannot be reduced to squared measurements of vines, as prestigious as they are. They are an illustration of a delicate harmony, an alchemy between a place, nature, man, and centuries of history.

Why are the climats of the vineyards of Burgundy unique and why do they represent world heritage ?
Every single climat, and there are thousands all along the Côte, has its own history, taste and place in the hierarchy of crus, such that they have slowly created the genius of the wine grower coupled with an exceptional physical environment. Associated with the cities of Dijon and Beaune, historic seats of political, economic and cultural power, the climats of the vineyards of Burgundy constitute a site of outstanding universal value (OUV).
The climats are exceptional and represent a model of local ‘terroir’ viticulture that inspires other vineyard regions around the world.
Recognition on the World Heritage List would ensure the climats are handed down to future generation unharmed.

30 000 supporters : There are already over 30,000 people supporting the candidature : from local figures to wine growers, to the families of the region and all lovers of Burgundy!
